A day off can easily become the day you answer every message, reorganize the hall closet, and quietly prove that you were never unavailable. Recovery needs a different brief.

Give the day three gentle edges: one reason to leave the house, one nourishing meal, and one person who knows you are taking care of yourself. Everything else is optional.

Do not audit the rest

You do not need to feel better by dinner to justify the day. Sometimes rest reveals fatigue before it relieves it. That is information, not failure.

A restorative day is allowed to be ordinary enough that nobody would photograph it.

Before evening, write down one condition that would make the return easier: a later first meeting, lunch already made, or a conversation that needs to happen. Recovery and repair are different jobs, but they can leave each other a note.
